I’m back…So I know its been a few weeks since I posted anything between work, catering, and just living life. I think my last post was when I was job hunting. I was really blessed to find a job that was just made for me. I am the Executive Chef at Midtown Athletic Club in Marietta, GA. I run the day-to-day operations of M Cafe which is part of the whole gym. Our menu is a variety of healthy sandwiches, salads, & smoothies and for the people who aren’t counting the calories we have the burgers, wings, fries. Every day I start off by making a fresh batch of soup, its amazing what I have made. Sooner or later I might become the next SOUP NAZI! So these last few days have been so busy! Friday Night I was in the kitchen baking some Lemon Meringue Pies for my neighbor & friend.I stayed in all Saturday because the rain just made me lazy until…my cousin came over with a weeks worth of food to cook! I decide to make pizza. On Sunday I was prepping for a cooking demonstration for the Older Atlantans Month Health Fair at the City of Atlanta. I prepared Bow Tie Pasta in Zucchini Sauce. This dish is very easy to make, I added some roasted chicken to make it a one pot meal. I think anyone can do this and so you know you will be getting more potassium from the zucchini than you would eating a banana. I also handed out samples of my whole-wheat brownie and it went like hot cakes! I got to see all of my old city friends and it was a pleasure to be there. I started my new job today and I will blog about that later tonight…got to go finish the pot roast for tomorrow!
Yesterday I had another interview that went great! This place is awesome 3 companies in 1! Meet with 2 members of the leadership & toured the kitchen. So today I’m getting ready for a stage at The Food Movement. The official definition of staging is an unpaid internship when a cook or chef works briefly, for free, in another chef’s kitchen to learn and be exposed to new techniques and cuisines. The term originates from the French word stagiaire meaning trainee, apprentice or intern.
I will be displaying my skills in the kitchen for them today!
